Matis (
and predecessors) has for decades engaged in research work and various projects for the Icelandic fishing industry and agriculture. The results of these studies and projects have been published in various ways, eg the reports, publications and manuals, as well as seminars and consulting to companies and individuals.

Gradually, a great knowledge has been assembled about fishing and agriculture, how to treat products, knowledge of the main effects and storage methods for fish and other foods.
